Repairs can be performed on most instruments. Send pictures with a description of the problem or work you would like done. An estimate can only be developed after physical inspection of the instrument but can occur before work begins. Shipping costs to & from are the customer’s responsibility and are non-refundable. Repair work is normally guaranteed for one year.
Typical restoration activities are
- Revalving reedplates
- Cleaning/derusting reeds
- Rewaxing reedplates onto reedblocks or directly onto reedpans
- Minor bellows leak repair (frame interface and corner leaks)
- Flattening reedblock bottoms to minimize leakage
- Repadding key pallet faces for quietness and better sealing
- Replacing bellows gaskets
- Keyboard repair or replacement
- Sticky button troubleshooting
- Button travel limiting
- Stop slide improvements
- Repairing broken or split wood joints
- Aligning button heights
- Strap fabrication and installation
- Strap bracket fabrication and installation
I don’t do cosmetic improvements or extensive bellows repair. It is sometimes possible to purchase a new set of bellows that I can install if repairs are too involved. I normally provide a demonstration video on YouTube after the work is completed. You can see past projects by perusing my channel.
