Restored Hohner 4 stop button accordion in the key of C. This was made in Germany in the Hohner factory. It is in good condition overall. The black and gold painted wood case is in good shape but shows normal wear for an instrument of this age. The original bellows are airtight and have silver, red and gold taped edges. It has 10 treble buttons and 2 bass spoons. The bass spoons and air spoon lever have been repadded with felt cushioned leather. The treble, chord and bass reeds are steel on individual aluminum plates and have the ‘T’ marking.
I have special tuned this instrument with Cajun style flatted thirds. It has LOW, MID1, MID2, HIGH reeds each with a stop. The L,M1 & H reeds are all tuned the same for a very sweet Cajun sound. The M2 reed is tuned slightly sharp from the M1 reed and gives a pleasant tremolo when engaged. Final tuning occurs in situ with the reedblocks attached to the soundboard.
As the photo shows, the metal grill is not missing (common on these). The grill cloth is okay. The plastic keyboard is very good. The bass and bellows straps are all original and functional.
Most of these older Hohner accordions are found with numerous notes out of tune, wheezing or not sounding at all. This was just tuned. There are 90 reeds in this instrument.
