Nice Frontalini button accordion in the keys of G & C. This is a small model with 8 basses. It weighs only 6 pounds so delightful to hold and play. This was made in Italy. I don’t know its age but guess manufacture was between 1965 and 1990. It is in excellent condition overall. The golden brown pearloid covered wood case is in excellent shape with no wear and no missing trim pieces. Often there are cracks or pieces or decorations missing. The original bellows are excellent and show no signs of wear on the tape from use where the instrument rests on your knee. I have just replaced the bellows gaskets.

It has 21 treble buttons and 8 bass buttons. The reed plates are aluminum made in Italy. It has steel reeds. The original leather one way valves were all removed and replaced with modern plastic one way valves for long trouble free life. All reedplates were removed, cleaned, coarse tuned in a fixture then rewaxed onto the reed blocks. Final tuning occurs in situ with the reedblocks inside the case.

I added two anti-resonance cross-bars between the treble reedblocks to minimize undesirable ‘wah-wah’ effect that can sometimes occur.

As the photos show, the metal grill is in great shape with no missing pieces or big dents. The front grill cloth is intact. The rear screen is original. The keyboard is intact with no cracks or missing pieces and keys are level. The bass strap looks okay and must be original, both bellows straps are metal and function fine. I added new shoulder strap brackets. No shoulder straps are included but are available in the misc. category.

Most of these older accordions are found with numerous notes out of tune, wheezing or not sounding at all. This was just fully tuned. There are 124 reeds in this instrument and every single one has been tuned. The treble reeds were tuned with a tremolo beat frequency of approximately 3 Hz at the low notes gradually rising to about 6 Hz at the high notes, for a sweet tremolo. The bass and chords were tuned ‘flat’.
