Partially restored Hohner GCF button accordion. It is in good condition overall. The black celluloid covered wood case is in good shape but shows wear on the back near the air button. Several of the metal corner wrap decorations have come off and are gone. The original bellows are tight but show wear on the bottom and back. Someone added new tape on the back of the bellows. It has 31 treble buttons and 12 bass buttons. The low buttons on each row of the treble side are the standard Hohner low notes. The treble and chord aluminum reed plates have the ‘H’ marking. The bass reeds have the ‘T’ mark. It has steel reeds. The original leather one way valves have all been removed and replaced with modern plastic film valves. All reedplates were then rewaxed onto the reedblocks.
As the photo shows, the metal grill is in good shape with normal minor dents and scratches. The front and rear grill screens look original. The wooden keyboard is intact with no cracks or missing pieces. Often there are cracks or entire sections missing between keys on some of these old Hohners. The the bellows straps are old but working. The thumb loop has been removed. This instrument has shoulder strap brackets installed. The bass strap has been replaced previously using a leather belt.
I can include new single shoulder strap for an additional $30 or used for $15 if desired. Let me know when you purchase so I can include before it ships if you would like.
Most of these older Hohner accordions are found with numerous notes out of tune, wheezing or not sounding at all. This was just fully tuned. There are 184 reeds in this instrument and every single one has been tuned. The treble reeds were tuned with a mild tremolo with a beat frequency of 2 Hz for the lowest note and 6 Hz for the highest with a gradation in between.
Unlike most of the older Hohner boxes purchased used, this is ready to play without further adjustment required. I repair and tune button accordions and have specialized in older Hohner button boxes.
