Hohner Atlanta GC button accordion in excellent condition. There is only slight wear on the bellows tape and some rounding of some button hole edges. This is a design departure for Hohner. It is constructed in more of the Italian style with wooden corners instead of metal and solid woods versus plywood. The case is beautiful and looks like a spruce guitar top. The bellows are tight and feature nice gold on green papers.
It has 21 treble buttons and 8 bass buttons. The low buttons are low notes, not accidentals. It has steel reeds on aluminum reed plates. The wooden grill is perfect as is the grill screen. The wooden keyboard is intact with only slight wear on some of the hole edges. I have added button travel limiting so the buttons don’t dive down below the top of the keyboard. The bass and bellows straps are new and fully functional. The thumb loop has been removed but the screw is still there. It has a colorful shoulder strap and strap brackets.
I have just carefully tuned all the bass and chord reeds. On the treble side the tremolo beat frequency is around 2.4 Hz for the lowest notes gradually rising to 7 Hz on the upper notes. I have added an anti-resonance crossbar between the two treble reedblocks to prevent unwanted ‘wah wah’ effect.
