Rare F.H.Walters button accordion in D/C#. This is a 6 voice instrument LLMMMM with a coupler to control the LL reeds. This is a used box but in fine condition. The case is sound and sturdy. The bellows frames and treble reedblocks are fine black walnut. An excellent design feature is that the 20 treble button pallets are all arranged interleaved in one long line side by side so the volume during play is completely even across all buttons. Most two row instruments use two rows of pallets and many suffer from a slightly muffled inner row. Here the sound is bright and crisp across all buttons equally. There are 240 reeds on the treble side alone!
The bellows look original and show little signs of wear. It has a lovely keyboard cover decorated with flags, a harp and floral design. Weight is 12.5 pounds. No shoulder strap included but both new and used are available in the Miscellaneous section. It has a nice older tweed hardshell case with ‘blanket’. It is a bit oversize but makes getting it in and out easier.
The treble reed valves have all been replaced with modern plastic film valves for many years of service. I have gone through the reeds and brought the tremolo gradation to a more consistent state. I kept the historic A=442.5 Hz reference frequency. This has a full and powerful sound as it was designed to compete with other band instruments before amplification was commonplace. It can be played softly or you can make it roar! The 6 bass buttons are configured with D push A pull on one pair and D push and G pull on the next and C# push G# pull on the other. Rare chance to own an instrument in wonderful condition ready for many years of fine playing.
